The Schützenfest is one of the important celebrations held each year in many towns in Germany. The manner in which these celebrations are conducted varies from place to place but the main purpose of the event is a shooting competition to find the "King Shooter". For instance, for the "Schützengruppe Falkenauge", founded in 1964, shooting does not only take place once a year at the Schützenfest, but members practice throughout the year and have friendly shooting competitions with other shooting groups.
